Beachcombing after a strong south-westerly provides flotsam, such as driftwood and pieces of rope, which I incorporate in my work. Stones in all shapes and sizes come from a variety of credible sources. Hand shaped, high fired ceramics complement the natural elements to communicate the themes which are illustrated in my gallery
“I take massive inspiration from Chichester Harbour, its history, sea defences, vibrant sailing community and the effects of time, tide and weather. Having walked many British coastal paths, climbed sea cliffs in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, and sailed in Chichester Harbour, I have gained a practical understanding of the physical geography of the coastline and its immediate environment which I reflect in my work. My pieces also take account of the human influence in maintaining and managing our continually changing coastline.
